NotiRewind Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
NotiRewind ("the app") saves the notifications that reach the Windows notification center as a history on this PC. The app is developed by Saji Works.
What is sent
The app does not send the content of your notifications, or any information about you or your device, to the developer or anyone else. There is no account and no usage tracking.
The one exception: only if you turn on "Download images for browser notifications received while the app wasn't running" in Settings, the app connects to the image URLs your browser recorded for its notifications (for example, a Twitch streamer's picture) and downloads the images. The server hosting the image receives your IP address and the request for the image. The content of your notifications is not sent. This setting is off by default.
What is stored on your PC
The app stores the following only in its own storage on this PC. This data is not encrypted.
- The name and identifier of the app that sent each notification, and the notification's title, text and time
- Images attached to notifications
- When NotiRewind wasn't running (to mark it in the history)
- For browser notifications, the name and icon of the site that sent it, and the URL of the page the notification opens
- App icons
- When you were away (periods with no input, and periods when a full-screen app was in use)
- Your settings, such as Keep, lists, retention and pause
Saved notifications are deleted when their retention period ends. Notifications you delete go to the trash and are deleted after 30 days or when you empty the trash. Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored in its own storage. Files you saved by exporting or backing up stay in the location you chose.
When you export, the app writes notifications to a file (Excel, CSV or JSON) in the location you choose. When you back up, the app writes a file containing all of the information above, unencrypted, to the location you choose.
What the app reads
- Notifications in the notification center: through the Windows notification APIs, only after you allow access in Windows.
- Windows notification data (wpndatabase.db): to find the site of browser notifications and where the images attached to notifications are.
- Image files attached to notifications: the images the data above points to, read from this PC (for browsers, only inside the browser's folders; for other apps, only from fixed drives on this PC).
- Chrome and Edge notification data (Platform Notifications): to find the page a notification opens and its image URL.
- Chrome and Edge site icon data (Favicons): only the icons of sites you received notifications from.
- App icons: from the Windows Start menu and the icons apps have registered with Windows.
- Activity: the time of your last input and whether a full-screen app is running, to know when you were away. The app does not read what you type or what is on the screen.
The app does not open wpndatabase.db, Platform Notifications or Favicons directly. It reads a temporary copy on this PC and deletes the copy right after reading. Nothing read is sent to the developer or anyone else.
Purchases
Purchases and payments are handled by the Microsoft Store. Payment information never reaches the developer. The remaining trial period, whether you have purchased the app, and whether a new version of the app is available are checked through the Microsoft Store. This information does not reach the developer either.
